Never was one for the woods. Or camping.
[ How he ended up bloody lost in the woods was beyond him. How he got lost in the woods with a woman from another dimension -- that is a little less beyond him. Dimensions, planes of existence, none of that is really beyond him. Though it's rare he runs into someone who knows him and doesn't hate him.
That's more surprising than anything.
He looks at the compass in his hand. And sighs.
And then throws it over his shoulder. ]
Bloody useless thing.

And then she'd woken up in the woods here, in probably a world that was not her own.
No access to Gideon...nothing. And a John that was...not her John. Sometimes she hated the multiverse. ]
I mean, we're bound to find a road at some point right. It's not like Michael Myers is chasing us. [ And if he did, well...Sara liked their odds. ]
no subject
[ Maybe that's the wrong one? Ah, hell. He doesn't much care. He isn't one for pop culture--maybe her Constantine is? There's a lot to think about with the multiverse. Most of it is a headache doesn't want to think about too much.
Not really his thing. ]
Unless we're just walking in circles, luv.
no subject
Yeah, that's possible too.
[ But she was a trained assassin, if anyone could get them out, she should be able to. Maybe she's losing her touch. If only she could call on Gideon right now.
Did her team even know she was missing? Did Ava? ]
no subject
He comes to a stop then and turns and looks at Sara. Sara Lance. ]
You said you had a team. Why don't you try giving them a call on one of those fancy Hero things? Or, cellphone if you have those.
[ First? The more logical and practical ways. ]
no subject
[ Honestly John, it's not her first day. ]
Whatever this is, we're cut off from everyone.
no subject
Suppose it's time to find our way through a bit more ancient means.
no subject
[ She's not sure how it'll help them now but she's willing to try whatever. ]
no subject
[ Not that it means that he won't try. Once he finds a way to save Asta? Then he'll be popping down. ]
There's these bastards called the Vestibulan. Minor angels that took no side during the oh great War in Heaven. For their neutrality, they got banished to the outside lobby of Hell. They like to make judgements and all that sort, but, unless you know the way to talk to them? It's a bit hard to get past them.
[ John is already taking his trenchcoat off, tossing it to the side, and looking for a stick to get drawing. ]
Then there's the fact that rumor has it a few angels are guarding the Gates of Hell now. Something about Lucifer swanning off and giving up on King of Hell.
no subject
They sound really fun.
[ Sara doesn't like just being stuck out in the woods without her team, and with a John who doesn't know her like the John she knows. She's doing the best she can here.]
Well I definitely don't think we should keep just trying to get out, we always seem to end up back at the same point. It's like this forest is against us or something.
He can do that?
no subject
[ He's doing his best not to be... well, too much of a prat. He doesn't like dimensional fuckery to begin with, and well, Sara has a Constantine to get back to. Poor her, because he really doesn't wish anyone knowing any version of him.
He shakes a stick and gets to work drawing a circle with some Celtic runes. ]
Forest or something in the forest. Maybe someone pissed in the protective spirit's pool.
[ John looks back up at her and shrugs. ] He did, regardless if he can.
no subject
[ It sounded absolutely ridiculous. But Sara might've pissed someone off. She was good at that. And maybe someone or something had sent her here as punishment.
She didn't know, but she didn't like it. ]
Well, that's...something.
[ Hopefully John can get them out of this forest before something that goes bump in the night becomes too interested in them. ]
no subject
[ John flashes her a smile and chucks the stick away once he is done. He dusts his hands off before stepping inside the circle and motioning for her to join him. ]
Tell me you've got something shiny on you. Even better? Some sort of crystal. Fake one will do.
no subject
[ She shakes her head, she doesn't have anything crystal but...she pulls out a silver dagger and hands it over to him. ]
Will this do?
no subject
[ Aliens would be nice. It'd be a change of pace. Alas.
He looks at the dagger and shrugs. Not quite what he is looking for. But they might be able to get it to work. ]
It's real silver, yeah? Not just painted to look like it?
no subject
[ She actually had no proof that it was aliens because she'd just woken up here in this forest in another world. But she was pretty sure aliens abducted people via tractor beams and that was what happened to her. It could have been something else though.
Aliens wouldn't surprise her at this point, and she doubted much would. ]
Of course, it's real silver, this isn't amateur hour.
no subject
You normally carry pure metals around?
[ Still, he nods in thanks for the dagger. Hopefully it'll respond the same way.... hopefully.
He holds it up between his hands, the edge of the blade pressing into one finger as he balances them. A few words are said in Celtic. Nothing at first, to which he raises his eyebrow. Then, the blade begins to vibrate. A beam of light comes from the blade and into the ground, seeming to illuminate several pathways. ]
That doesn't narrow it down very much. A crystal would of helped more... but, well, explains a few things. [ He turns on the spot, slowly, trying to angle the blade in a better way. Each one of the glowing lines either dims or brightens. ]
I'm assuming I don't need to explain the concept of ley lines.
no subject
I'm the captain of a time ship. You never know what you're going to need or what you're going to run into to.
It's best to be prepared.
[ The Boy Scouts were right about that at least. ]
No, you don't. Guess that's what we're deal with here?
[ It still didn't really explain Sara's abduction...or where they even were. But it was something. One thing was for sure, if they survived this ordeal then Sara was going to make sure to have a crystal handy too. ]
no subject
[ He tilts his head as he angles the blade more. Hrm. ]
I'm trying to use the ley lines to guide our way out. Thing is? They're not right.
[ John figures one thing at a time. First, they get out. Then they figure out the abduction bit. ]
Tangled is a better word for it.
no subject
[ Maybe he would if the crew came to rescue them. If they even knew Sara was gone. But they had to know, didn't they? Surely Gideon could get them here. ]
That...doesn't sound good, John.
[ There was a sudden snapping of branches not that far from their location. ]
And that? Sounds even worse.
no subject
[ He has a sinking feeling on what's going on. And, oh, he doesn't like that idea at all. Not one bit. He looks at her over his shoulder and gives a shit-eating-grin, but there is a nervousness behind it.
He hopes he's wrong.
Then, the snap happens. He angles the blade towards the sound-- ]
