[ It's a rainy afternoon. School's out for the weekend, and they don't have a care in the world. Other than, you know, Mementos things and also homework. But mostly, not a care in the world. Ryuji's gone home to help his mother with dinner, as a good son should, which has left Akira and Ann to their own devices. It's why they find themselves up in his attic-room, scrolling through their phones and chatting the afternoon away.

The rain is really coming down hard, though, and Ann's dreading the walk slash and or run back to the train station when the time comes. Unfortunately for them both, the rain brings two things: a lack of much to do, and boredom, which could ultimately be one in the same.

Ann's suspiciously quiet for a while, before she finally speaks up, breaking the companionable silence: ]

Hey, Akira. Why do people in cities always carry an umbrella?

[ Go on, Akira. Answer the lady.... ]

*sniff sniff* do i smell we about ready to rank 10 this

[ Homework? That's a breeze. He's already done most of it while they were talking. It opens up the weekend to be with his friends or work on his other skills. He glances up over the rim of his fake glasses as Morgana curls up on the futon and sleeps.

He looks over at her with a blank stare. It's obvious that the small town boy has no idea why this is going to be a joke. But, he'll roll with it.

He shakes his head. ]

[ Ann doesn't bother looking up. She doesn't have to, because she can feel his gaze on her as she continues scrolling through her phone. Unlike Akira, she's hardly touched her own homework, opting to once again push it off until the last minute, where she's panicking and writing things frantically. Details, though.

She hums. ]

Because umbrellas can't walk.

[ There's a small huff of a laugh from him. He leans back in his chair and crosses his arms. ]

Was that one of Makoto's jokes?

[ It sounds like it. ]

[ When she hears that small laugh, she finally looks up and flashes him a bright grin in return. ]

[ There's that cocky smirk on his face. He figures he'll get a pillow thrown at him for that. ]

[ It's a good thing he's so intuitive, because he's right -- she doesn't hesitate in tossing a pillow directly at the poor guy, though she's laughing good naturedly all the same. ]

[ How does this nerd manage to be so cool in and out of the Metaverse? Barring when he's hitting himself in the face with pool balls and busting a move at school festivals. That's just cute and hilarious. ]

Akira, no. [ She says no, but she's still laughing her head off because of course he'd one up what she tossed out. ] Speaking of which, I wish the rain outside would let up a little. It's gonna be a fun run back to the train station tonight.

I thought it was clever. [ Because it is and Ann can't deny it. He adjusts the glasses on his face. ] I figured the rain was why you looked up umbrella jokes.

[ She turns her attention out the small window just above his bed, watching as the rain continues to pour down in sheets and... dreading the jog she's got coming up to get to the train station. ]

[ Akira stands up then and slides his hands into his pockets. ] I'll walk you to the station. Maybe I'll even protect you from all the rain, my lady.
