Anything in the mortal life could pull them away both temporarily and for the rest of their lives. He could be called away to war and slain without her able to aid him, or she could be found by those that hunted her people. Something as simple as illness could part them. All these factors are known to her, and yet, she cannot help the ancient part of her soul that reaches out to his and begs him to remain with her.
