[ that look is enough to make him feel guilty as hell. it... means a lot that she cares though. the world is going to hell, the dead are walking around, there is a mutant hunting them, and she still is looking out for someone else.

then - a laugh. ] You never know. I didn't expect to see the walking dead this morning.

Were you guys planning on meeting up before all this?

( it would be a bit heartless on claire's end if she didn't care. especially with how many times he has saved her ass and they seem to get along well. maybe that's just the zombie apocalypse talking and helping them get along.

she reaches out for a candy bar, unwrapping it before taking a bite. )

Normally he gives me a call saying he's going to be gone a while, so this is really unlike him. Our parents died when I was really young, so Chris pretty much raised me on his own... Well, with the help of military wives on the base, but he still did a majority of it on his own and he would often be gone for a while... So, I would know not to expect him home.

[rpd]

[ he munches quietly on a protein bar. ]

I'm guessing you were going to give him a surprise visit at work? [ it's a nice thought. claire seems like a nice enough girl to do that. she certainly loves her brother enough. ]

Well, once we get out of Raccoon City? We'll see about tracking him down.

[handguns]

Yeah, I figured he was either busy with something at work or maybe even started dating again. Since he kinda refrained from dating anyone until I graduated high school. Didn't realize he was dealing with all of this and in Europe.

( of course leon took the protein bar, she guessed as such so it was nice to see her intuition was right. )

Definitely looking forward to getting out of here, a real meal, and a nice shower.

I'm guessing you were moving into the city for job? Did you have anyone coming with you? Family? A significant other?

Big brother didn't want to be distracted even more with a little sister he was raising, huh?

[ he is just guessing of course. he has no real idea about who chris is. other than the pictures and keepsakes that are on the desk up in the STARS office. which, he looks at her. ]

Do you want to go look at his desk? Maybe there's a clue there.

[ then, he pauses at her question. ]

Yeah. Today was going to be my first day on the job. [ a shake of his head. ] No. I'm not seeing anyone.

[handguns]

Yeah, I can only imagine what it was like raising me and being in the Navy. While it sucked not having parents, Chris taught me everything I know and without it, I doubt I would have survived this long.

You've helped a lot too.

( claire shrugs as she takes another bite from the candy bar. )

It wouldn't hurt to take another look but I feel like I've found every bit of information I can from his desk. Might need to start looking elsewhere or just classify this under some secret mission where he couldn't tell me anything.

Sounds rough, moving to a new place without knowing anyone.

[ now that takes him by surprise. leon tilts his head ever so slightly. ]

Well, there's desks from his teammates. I don't think they'll be back anytime soon for anything. We might be able to find some supplies stashed away too.

It was something I was willing to try and do.

Yeah, don't sound too surprised. After all, you saved my ass back at the gas station.

( it was more like they saved each others asses, but she still feels like she would have been in for something unpleasant if she hadn't run into him there. )

It's worth a shot to look through their desks as well.

Saving someone's ass doesn't usually mean you teach them something.

[ he nudges her playfully before sighing and leaning back against the wall again. ]

Do you know anything about STARS?

[handguns]

I know that it stands for Special Tactics and Rescue Service, that's about it. Have you been able to find anything out about them?

[rpd]

Not really. Then again, I didn't really go through all the papers and desks while I was there.

It's something else we may want to look into up there. Maybe they know why all this started.
