[The large burning orb in the sky had sunk low, meeting the horizon and casting it's rays over the desolate terrain. A hastily constructed structure compiled of pikes made out of precious wood surrounded the encampment of soldiers within. As arduous as the task must have been, somehow a figure managed to climb over the wall, landing with a light thud against the sand and sparse scrubby foliage. The figure crouched low and paused for a moment, before standing up and trying to continue it's stealthy escape.

Some progress was made before the cacophonous trumpeting of a large elephant broke the silence, the massive beast hurtling itself towards the much smaller biped. As much as he wanted to cry out in surprise, the man held on to the illusion that somehow he could still get out of this, if he could only manage to avoid being trampled by the angry beast!
]

By the Gods! [He whisper-hissed despite all attempts to keep quiet, still the elephant most likely was making enough noise to cover for him. With a dive and a roll, he narrowly managed to evade the insistent stamping of feet, but the tirade wasn't looking as if it was going to resolve on it's own]

[ Another figure not too far had been overlooking the camp before the sun had finally made its decent to its nightly journey. It would rise again and with it the promise of another day and continued prosperity for the kingdom. Or, so the old stories went. He is unsure of how long their kingdom will continue on as the decay of Egypt's citizens continue.

It, however, is not the figure that manages to give aid to the young man rolling away from the elephant. Instead a cry of an eagle can be heard piercing through the air. She soars down into the coverings of those that control the massive animal, pecking at the one who controls the reigns. The one behind the scenes yells out in frustration at the eagle and pulls on the reigns. The elephant steers away, a loud sound bellowing from it in pain.

Then, someone else slides up besides the escapee. A man with a white hood over his face hooks his arm around the younger's waist, moving him to roll further away. The man rolls, pulling a bow and arrow from his back and pointing it at the beast in case it turns back towards them. ]

BEST BIRB - Sorry this is incredibly late. I'm aghast at how late, and man.. life sometimes.

[OOC: I will understand if it's too late]

[The great beast is a shadowy silhouette in the darkened sky, and it's difficult to predict it's movements. As it corrects it's position it looks like it's going in for another stamping pass when salvation comes in the form of a streak blazing through the air, the cry giving away it's identity. The intervention seems to be divine in origin, as if Horus himself had taken flight on Atem's behalf.]

There was someone controlling it..

[He hadn't been sure if the elephant had broken free or it's tether or if it was a nightly patrol, now he was.

Feeling the arm slip around him, he thinks for the briefest moment that it's all over. He's been recaptured before he's placed any sort of distance between himself and the camp. Muscles tensing he decides quickly that struggling would be preferable to solemn compliance but the action proves unnecessary.

The faint firelight from the encampment glints off something the hooded man is holding. A weapon, surely. An arrow, more specifically. While Atem appreciates the aide, he also feels an urge to do more to ensure his own position. It's not like him to stand back and let others take on a dangerous situation themselves, but he's not exactly equipped to join in. For now the elephant is moving erratically as it's master is still dealing with the bird, and can't seem to get a handle on it.

[ Perhaps Amun instead of Horus, but, Bayek will not argue which god had sent him to the scene. The last thing that Egypt needs is the young Pharaoh to be crushed under the hooves of a giant beast.

Bayek's eyes narrow under the hood as the elephant stamps its mighty feet. An opening. He loosens the arrow from his hold and it sails forward. The arrow head glints in the moonlight as it fits its target in the neck of the man driving the beast. Then, he motions for the young Pharaoh to begin to run. ]

Run!

[ There is no telling what way the mighty one will go now that its master has slumped forward at the reigns. The hawk cries out and she sails up into the sky once again. ]

Shame. I feel shame.

[That is not a line of speculation that said young pharaoh was interested in debating just now either. As long as he still was in their favor, it would suffice.

With a high level of skill an accuracy the arrow meets it target. Only a guttural but low exclamation of agony escapes the man mounted on the elephant, the damage to his neck already making it impossible to project his voice. In a matter of moments he hangs there lifelessly, as limp as a finely woven tapestry.

At the call to action, Atem wheeled away from the immediate direction of the stamping beast, eyes scanning the desert for any cover or landmarks they could best use to their advantage. Aside from the encampment there's mostly open ground. Still, he had to choose a direction and so he did trying not to sink into the soft ground as he accelerated away. Without the guidance of it's master, the elephant has a chance to reassess it's own position. Not content to just settle down after having been so stirred up, it heads for the camp, tossing its massive tusks as it goes, knocking into the hastily erected walls that fall easily under it's weight.

Confused soldiers spill out of their former resting places to deal with the utter chaos.

Now's our chance... keep going!
