[ Solomon leaves out some rather telling details as well. Namely the fact he was betrayed by those who hired him, nearly died, and was only saved by the spirit of the Pharaoh. Which is why he watches his grandson ever so closely. Yugi still remains the only one that can see the displaced spirit, but, Solomon has learned to tell when it is his grandson or not present.
'There was no way for you to know.' Yugi shakes his head, clearly not blaming his best friend at all. His shoulders slump slightly at the reassuring touch, but Atem should be able to tell that Yugi is far from displeased about the reassuring notion. He welcomes it. 'Grandpa has known since the start, and he never said anything. That means he knew when we went to Duelist Kingdom and fought Pegasus... he knows all about the Millennium Items too. He kept quiet this whole time!'
Part of him is angry about it. Why keep it a secret? Why do any of this the way it has been. Part of him wants to scream out of sheer frustration. Why did he have to say anything now? Why not before Battle City -- or even after it?!
A few moments pass before he slowly raises his head and drags his hands through his blonde bangs. Right. His Grandpa's sudden reveal aside, that just leaves the other question in the room he supposes. He turns his head to look up at the woman standing on his otherside. Lunafreya--? That's difficult to say, let alone pronounce in his head. ]
Did your grandfather know about the Pharaoh?
[ Lunafreya shakes her head. ] No, he was far more worried about the connection of ancient items to the Shadow Games.
...What do you know about the Shadow Games?
[ There is a sigh that escapes Lunafreya then. She glances to Solomon who simply shrugs and closes his eyes.
Yugi glances back at Atem, eyebrows turned upwards in confusion. 'You said you met her. Does she know--'
There's a sudden flash of light that he catches from the corner of his eyes. Yugi turns his head quickly, nearly falling out of the chair from the sheer momentum of it all. Lunafreya stands there in her modern clothing with a very ancient appearing Trident. A serious expression takes her face then, but, Yugi doesn't feel as if she's condescending about it at all. ]
My family has spent generations speaking to the creatures you now refer to as Duel Monsters. [ Lunafreya explains it gently, moving to hold the Trident in both hands across her body. ] We were chosen to speak to them on behalf of humanity, but also to humanity on behalf of them. Shadow Games became a way to weaponize them into combat. Duel Monsters is merely the modern adaptation of an ancient tradition.
