"I think so. I know that the singing got their attention, but also..." She pauses and gives him a somewhat cautious look. "How much do you know about runes and runestones?"

He leans back in his chair and gestures outside. "First thing is first though, luv. You'll need a place to stay."

"I imagine that you never angered the spirits by accidentally creating a handful of ice runes and therefore waking up the spirits." She knows it sounds confusing; she didn't know she was waking anyone, spirit or otherwise, at the time.
But then he mentions her needing somewhere to stay, and she realizes he's right. "I do, don't I? I suppose I should start looking."

"Oh, trust me, luv. I've angered enough magical, elemental, demonic and angelic entities to write a bloody novel about." He shakes his head. "Plenty of houses are open. Boarding house is right down the street."

"I'm sure I shouldn't be saying this, but waking up the spirits and seeing what they can do was almost thrilling, in a way." Yes, their power is destructive and has the potential to cause a lot of damage if not checked, but the wildness of it all appealed to Elsa somehow. "They calmed down in the end, though, once I managed to make a connection with them."
She glances down the street as if taking in the buildings on both sides of the road, and then looks back at John. "I think that a house would suit me best." That way, she won't accidentally subject someone to a frozen hand or something else equally inconvenient.

Everyone is addicted to something. It's easy enough to point at the cigarettes and alcohol for John. But, magic perhaps, is the biggest addiction. That thrill of getting to see himself prove that he can toss everyone around--that he is worth his weight. That they can all sod off and he's right. It's the high of success that is always met with the lowest of lows.
"How big of a house?"

"Well, it would only be me on my own, so I suppose it doesn't have to be very big." She's never had to worry about that before, considering she grew up in a castle, and then became the bridge between two separate worlds. Choosing a house and interior decorating are two things she doesn't have much experience with.
