[ Alan doesn't like this any more than Tim does. He's already more acquainted than he likes with having holes in his memory and forgetting things. When will this end? Is this just how it's going to be, until... until I simply run out of time? How much time do I even have?

He looks at Tim with understanding, but he might notice how Alan's jaw tightens. He knows what the other man means, of course, because no one should ever have to go through the kind of torment that's been the last thirteen or so years for Alan. Maybe Door's not evil like that, but there's a part of Alan that's not holding his breath for Door to reveal that he's been altruistic all along. ]

I'm just mad that you're in his crosshairs at all, honestly. If there was a way for me to get you out of all this and still get you the answers you want, I'd do it in a second. I've told you that before, haven't I? I must sound like a broken record, but I mean it. Every word.

[ Alan stares at Arish, trying to follow where he's going with this. But maybe it's for the best that they get off the subject. His thoughts threaten to spiral at the slightest thing as it is. He's not sure he wants to give them more of a reason to run away. ]

Right... Directorial Override. [ Alan's expression suggests he's of two minds at the notion of Jesse still being here. He can't say he's happy that any of them are there, really, but Jesse definitely doesn't deserve this place.

He goes quiet again as he listens to the explanation, nodding along as he follows, but his frown continues to deepen the longer Arish talks. ]

Every time... every time that I think things can't get worse, they find a way of doing that.

[ But then one sentence from Arish's explanation jumps out at Alan: She ran in with the rangers into one sector. We're just not sure which one yet. We haven't been able to make contact.

Those words echo in Alan's mind and chase themselves around slowly at first but growing faster and faster.

We haven't been able to make contact. We haven't been able to make contact. wehaventbeenabletomakecontactwehaventbeenabletomakecontact ]

Arish, where- I know you said you don't know which one she went into. How many sectors are there?

[ Alan stops and looks around them, eyes surveying the room as if looking for something. A wild idea has just come to him and it won't let him go. He has to do something, he can't just sit here.

If it was up to him, he'd charge off right then and there, but even with his sudden impulsiveness, something tells him maybe that's not the smartest idea. ]
