[ Too late, Alan realizes what he's doing and he just recoils in on himself for a second. ] Sorry, I'm sorry, I- I just...

[ He offers Tim an apologetic look. He can't help how his mind seems to run away from him at the worst possible moments, but it's very annoying and frustrating when it happens.

He tries harder to pull himself back together, to focus on what's really important here. ]

It's not bright here, not at all. So... what is she using to amplify herself? The lights from the generator? But that's not a reliable source if they have to be repaired. What was that phrase? Something of light. Jesse kept using it, and her guide seemed to kind of make things brighter around me. But is that just coincidence?

[ It should be clear from looking at Alan that he doesn't want that to be just coincidence. ]

Jesse doesn't belong in the Dark Place any more than she belongs here. But I don't know if her guide would project herself here on her own. She's... I don't think she works like that.

[ As much as Alan wishes that Jesse was safe at home and not thrown once more into danger, a part of him is telling him that it's not possible to have Polaris without Jesse.

But he has to cut his musings short when they finally join Sable again. He stares up at the door, but even as the alarms light up, he finds himself staring at her arm as if he's seeing it for the first time. It took him long enough to figure out that she's hurt. ]

Hey, Sable- [ He's cut off by her words and the blast of the siren. Before he can say anything, she's grabbing his shirt and dragging him along and he has no choice but to stumble along after her. For someone with an injured arm, she's still got plenty of energy and drive. Maybe he could learn a thing or two from her, such as how to not be such a limp noodle.

He follows along after her, glancing behind him to make sure Tim is still with them, and then he goes back to keeping a watchful eye on their surroundings. He might be a little dazed still but he's sharp enough to know that he can't zone out entirely. Whatever the hell's going on, it's not safe. He might be missing some memories, apparently, but he can still pick up on contextual clues. Sable mentioned screaming and others getting out. Getting out implies escape. Screaming implies danger.

And she also mentioned killers, which is absolutely not a good sign. He's still keeping a weather eye on everything, and he does note how the warehouse rings a bell with him.

They do a good bit of more walking before they reach another set of double doors, and Alan watches as Sable pulls out what looks like an ID card that she decorated herself. It almost makes him smile a little bit.

The Fed Box... The Federal Bureau of Control... The Bureau. The FBC. The FBC fell back.

Memories surface again and suddenly Alan has a feeling that the FBC's presence here is absolutely not a coincidence. ]

Well, that confirms it. If the Bureau is here, Jesse has to be nearby... or maybe this is another outpost, but I think it's more than that.

[ Polaris? Hello? I know you're there. ]
