[ The look that Alan gives her in response to her question is equal parts guilty and almost embarrassed. He can't lie and say he didn't want to bring her here any more than he can say he didn't want to see her again. He really wanted to see her again, and now that she's here, he really doesn't want to let her go.

She's here because of him, of course, but did she make it here because of her own desire to be here? Does it even work that way? ]

Stupid stuff like getting coffee together. Breakfast. Taking walks. [ Things he might have done with Alice early on in their relationship... Things he wants to do with Jesse now. ]

... Maybe more than that. [ He places emphasis on "more", in case she wonders what he means. ]

And, while I'm thinking about it: I'm sorry. [ He has to say it, because he can't not apologize. Maybe it wasn't the "wrong" move, but it was a move he hated having to make. If he could have avoided it, he would have. ] I'm sorry I did it, and I'll do whatever I can to not do it again.

[ Even if I feel like I'm promising something I won't be able to keep. ]

Doesn't this feel familiar? Too familiar, even? [ It feels like we're right back where we started in Bright Falls. But I'm not complaining too much. ]
