[ A shake of her head. Jesse doesn't know where the adults went. Maybe to where the Not-Mother was from. It would make the most sense. Not that she stopped to try and find answers or look for them in the slide that led to the "Temple." She ran with Dylan. There was no time to do anything else.

She blinks once at his outburst. It's not unwelcome, just unexpected. Somehow, though, his words cause her to relax more into his arms. She feels safe. Not because he echoes what she feels, but he didn't turn away at all. He didn't say she was crazy. That she needs to get help and become normal again.

Her hands manage to unbundle from his hoodie. They then slide around him, a little difficult given he's on his side with her, and wrap around him. Hands find their way underneath his jacket to rest against his back, feeling the fabric of the hoodie there. Her eyes close for a moment.

What was it the Alan on the phone had said? That they'd come to see each other as home? ]


It's just me and Polaris now. [ Her tone is soft as she speaks into his chest. ] No more foster homes. No more school. I graduated and... went wherever she told me to go. She said to come here before a certain time and I did.
