[ The touch at her arm is enough to jar her from simply staring at him. His fingers moving across her hoodie signal that he's here. It's real, not a dream. As real as what happened in Bright Falls or in Ordinary.
Alan's home.
Her hands immediately move to his chest. They bunch into his shirt. Her leg kicks out around him, closing the door to the outside. He mentioned he was still fighting Taken, right? That means they could see where he's at if they leave the door open. Maybe they'll be less enticed if all they can see is a light on and a closed door.
They can't stand the light.
The door clicks shut behind them.
Then, Jesse lowers her head. Her forehead rests on his chest. Hands untangle from his shirt and wrap around him tightly. The fabric of the flannel and white shirt (tank top?) is thinner than the tweed jacket and hoodie he had on last time she saw him. The smell of the ocean strikes her as well. Almost as if he had been diving in the Lake.
Is that what he did? Did he dive into the Lake?
Her eyes close tightly. She simply sags against him. He's home. She's home with him here. Even if Polaris has gone away and may never come back? Alan's home.
The breath she had been holding finally loosens as her shoulder drop. Tears gather in her eyes but she doesn't let them fall. ]
Two years. [ Her hands bunch into the flannel shirt at his back as she answers. It's 2012. Alan disappeared then roughly a year later, Polaris disappeared too. She's been on her own since.
Not anymore. He's found her again. ] Maybe a little more. It's summer.
[ Meaning that within just a few months, it would be September. Deerfest. Three years. ]
