You are far too kind. I cannot help but feel as though I do not deserve your words nor the kindness behind them. [ He shakes his head again. ] Fine words are one thing, but if there are no actions to support them, what good are they? It seems that all I have are fine words and ideals, but those do not bring about reality.

Nevertheless, I find the glimpses you have given me of places beyond our borders fascinating. I am- Well, I suppose you might say that I am not very well-traveled. I could describe at length the city and the surrounding areas, but I do not know much at all about the places you have mentioned. I cannot very well travel from these lands, at least not at the present time, but perhaps one day I will.

[ As for the present and what awaits him in the morning, he feels there is much and more he must say to her before their paths diverge. ]

I have greatly enjoyed our time together and the time that you gave me. Should the worst happen and I- I mean to say that the memories of the time we have spent together, short as it has been, will remain with me. If I could remain here and spend more time with you, I would without a second's thought, but my duties are clear. I apologize that I must take my leave of you, even for a time.

[ He has yet to learn how to craft an impassive mask that hides his emotions, and despite his best efforts to hide his face from her, he knows she can see what is clearly written upon his face: regret that he must leave her, but also the resolve to do his duty as a knight of Ishgard. ]

We are to depart tomorrow, early in the morning. By all accounts, there is much to be done at the Vigil, as the Dravanians are not known for giving reprieves in between their attacks.

[ He does not wish to worry her, but the news of the state of the Vigil is less than reassuring. They are summoned because reinforcements are needed to bolster the dwindling numbers, and he finds he does not wish to dwell too long on that subject. War comes with loss, yes, but he has friends among the Temple Knights, and he finds himself ill-prepared to face the knowledge that some of those friends will never return home.

After a moment, he poses a question to her. ]

Will you be all right? [ Perhaps he should see about enlisting the aid of the household staff to look in on her in his absence. Or perhaps that would be overstepping. But he strongly desires to have the assurance that she will be well, even if that assurance is not his to have. ]
