Admirable, you say... [ His expression shifts to a more pensive one as he mulls that over. It is a strange sort of conundrum that he finds himself facing, as he believes that he knows who he is and who he wishes to be, and yet the knowledge that his father is none other than the Archbishop himself causes no small amount of confusion. He wishes to be someone who does admirable deeds and has a reputation of caring for others and doing the right thing, but as things stand, he is only one of many knights that fight for Ishgard.

Is it his place to try and set himself apart by his actions? Perhaps it would be better if he blended into the crowd and did not stand out so much. But then if he did, who would strive to make things better for all who call Ishgard home? Perhaps he is far too idealistic and should be more pragmatic, but he believes he learned valuable lessons from the man who raised him, the only father he truly knows. ]

I must admit that it surprises me that you so readily accept what I am saying. [ But perhaps it ought not to be so surprising. She is a healer, and therefore must have a caring streak, or she would have chosen another occupation. ] I would have whatever you choose to give, your services and your company, if I might be bold enough to ask for both.

[ And then the fear that he is overstepping settles in. He has no right to make decisions nor the power to enact them, and certainly if any knew of what he was thinking, he surely would be reprimanded. ]

Then... Then I am glad to have your company. [ He truly is, and although he barely understands why, he finds himself loathe to leave Ishgard for the front lines. Some of it has to do with her and the knowledge that he must leave her behind. But combined with that is the fear that something dire will happen to the city and the people he cares so much about. Of course, they do not leave Ishgard undefended, and yet he still finds himself worrying.

Still, he knows that when he leaves, it is her that he will miss. ]

I must admit that I sought to find you this evening because- Because I ought to do you the courtesy of telling you in person, rather than allowing you to hear of it from another.

[ His fingers curl slightly around hers, as if he wishes to hold onto her hand but is somehow still apprehensive about that very thing. ]

Orders arrived recently, and I- [ In almost the same smooth motion, his shoulders slide forward only to straighten up just seconds later. ] My regiment is being sent to the Stone Vigil to engage with the Dravanians once more.

[ His expression falls just slightly as he finds himself warring with the desire to serve and the desire to remain with her, but even so, he knows what he must do. ]
