[ Alkaid now knows for certain that she and her sister wanted no part of summoning either entity. If it called for the lives of the very people they were meant to help, aid, and protect? It was far too much. Aymeric--even G'raha--must have felt the same way to some degree, for they are present and not apart of one of the ancient primals. They may never recover the exact memories or details of their ancient lives, but, she has started to wonder just how much of their current lives have been shaped by emotions seared into their souls.

She gently continues to run her fingers along his in a soothing gesture. It was hardly easy to hear, let alone share. ]

You and your city were faced with dire happenings: the collapse of their religion and world view, and the unending war. Yet, you and yours rose above that and found a way to move forward despite it all. I would not say that the feelings are so different. [ At least, she cannot imagine them being as such. ] If our cores remain due to our souls... then surely the emotions that drive who and what we are the same as they were then.

[ As for his continuing question? Alkaid pauses as she wonders where to start unraveling such a thing. She had always intended to speak with Hythlodaeus when they returned to the First. If anyone were to know, it would certainly be him. Especially as he is the only one truly aware of who and what he is--and who she and her sister were. Yet, how they went about returning to the recreated ancient city... ]

There is a shade that exists within the recreation of Amaurot--one who, by how he talks, was a kind friend to Thisru and I in our ancient lives. Yet, when he was created, he was done so with the knowledge of who and what he was: merely a ghost made of recollections of the Ascian who oversaw the aetheric plane. [ Alkaid tilts her head slightly. ] Each member of the Convocation oversaw a different aspect to the ancient world... and Emet-Selch was over the aetheric plane. Yet, even then, even with knowing who we were once, he refused to see us as such... and deemed us not who we were and--[ She presses her lips to silence herself from the burst of anger she feels.

How could Emet-Selch call them his friends when he refused to admit it? Her tail bristles slightly. He had no issue killing her and Thisru again and again with calamity after calamity, all in the sake of bringing them back to their ancient selves. Yet, not once, had he thought to ask if it was what they wanted. ]

Elidibus's plans drove us to the recreated Amaurot, even if I had intended on visiting. We... confronted him, [ she leaves out the detail of having to fight a recreation of her beloved, ] and he was forced to withdraw until our next encounter. In his wake, he left crystals that spoke with memories of the Convocation. That is where Hythlodaeus found Thisru and I, and gave us one that he had been tasked with holding. One that was made in secret, without the others of the Convocation knowing. Because the fourteenth members refused to be a part of the plan that summoned Zodiark, and were called traitors.

[ Alkaid looks to him once more. ] I asked Hythlodaeus if he might know of someone that was similar to you, and close to who I was in my ancient life. He directed me further into Amaurot to one bureau that oversaw the protection of Amaurot. While the members of the Convocation were tasked with the greater scope of the star, these people were tasked with making certain that citizens were safe from wild beasts or potential otherworldly threats. [ She glances down as a smile spreads on her face, and the puffed out tail begins to sway once more. ] And I met a shade that was very stoic and devoted to his work. Yet, even with my tail and ears, said I reminded him of someone that was dear to his heart.
