He feels something slide around his neck, guided by her hands, and he startles just slightly. He had assumed that all his customary possessions had been lost or damaged at some point when he was incapable of registering it, and when that realization hit, he thought of the charm she had given him with a stab of regret. His sword is part of his inheritance, and his armor has protected him from many things (not quite everything, but that is an impossible thing to hope for), but it is that charm that he holds most dear.
At her announcement that they are ready, his eyes open once more and he looks down at the charm and then back at her, noting with no small amount of happiness that she is smiling. It is a small smile, but a smile nonetheless. ]
