[ Aymeric huffs out a laugh at that statement. ] Oh, you would be surprised, my friend. [ He has had his share of brooding in recent days, most often in the company of Alkaid. She has also been there to witness some rather trying moments, the memory of which brings a frown to his face and a slight pang in his side. Not that he wishes to let on about that in front of Estinien, who has more than enough to deal with without him adding to it. ] Perhaps it would be easier if I could also point a lance at my troubles and put a clean end to all of them.

[ But he knows that is not a viable solution, not for all that he must deal with. ]

As usual, you are not wrong. But one can hardly help where one's affections land, is that not so? [ He might have held an interest in Alkaid since the moment he met her, but he never dared dream that she might return that interest, let alone consent to be his wife. ] I cannot help but wonder what it is that led her to agree to joining in a union with me. [ Now more than ever, he wonders how she could love him as much as she does, what with all his thorny issues and deep-seated traumas. ]

Ah, I see. [ He ponders this latest bit of information, wondering just how far Estinien's path will take him, and hoping that he remains safe and well along the way. ] I hope that you find this dragon whole and well, and that she is able to return home. [ He casts his gaze downward as his thoughts travel once more to Alkaid, who must certainly be far away by now. Something akin to longing causes his heart to clench, but as he has stated both aloud and inwardly many times before, there is nothing to be done about it. Perhaps he will pen a letter to her when he has a moment, but perhaps it is better if he refrains so as to avoid distracting her from whatever her mission might be.

Nevertheless, Estinien does not need to be burdened with his worries, and so he is quick to straighten up once more, just in time for the steward to make his entrance. ]

A visitor? [ He echoes Estinien's words, wondering who could possibly come looking for him here. Most often, he is sought for elsewhere, usually in his new offices, but it must be significant to be looked for at his home. ] I do not often receive visitors here, so it must be of great importance. [ He casts a somewhat confused look in Estinien's direction before returning his attention to the steward. ]

Please, show them in.
